OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations and welcome to the Losers Bench!!
You won't need a lot of items in the hospital. Toiletries, robe, slippers...it will feel really good to brush your teeth on the first day when you're not allowed to swallow anything.
I didn't have any gas pain. The side effects of the anestesia left me really nauseous though. Everyone's experience will be very different...you may not have any pain at all. My angel told me the day after surgery "Today is the worst it will ever be, if you can get through today...it will only get better." She was right!
Good luck and congratualtions again!!!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
- George S. Patton, U.S. Army General, 1912 Olympian
Thank you so much guys. I can't believe I'm crying....I didn't think it would be so emotional....I mean, geesh, I have 5 more days before surgery. It's just that I've been waiting for this date for so long. This is the beginning of my life! I've been made fun of because of my weight (even from my own mother!!!) since I was 7 and have been dieting since I was 11. This is the end of that part of my life!!!!!
This is so much more than just a surgery or a new way of eating...this is a new life!

I certainly do understand your joy. I have been fat since 5, so I know the pain of growing up as a fat child and how unhappy life can be. But for you NOW, it's your rebirthday Monday!
Do not worry or fret about anything, it will all be good, and you will be fine. Everyday really does get better than the last, you never step backwards on this one.

I am one of those, no matter what, no matter how many or little problems I have had, I WOULD do it again, and again, and again. Just the fact that I have stablized is such a big deal for me. I have stayed this weight for over 8 months, and now I have decided to get back on the wagon again and lose, and my tool is working just perfectly. I know you understand EXACTLY what I am talking about. Living a life as a fat child is horrible, and it didn't even get easier till I found the love of my life. Today I am still trying to learn to love myself because there were so many years of hatred. It's a life long battle mentally and physically, but worth even single minute of it.
Wishing you the absolute best.

YOU GO DIANE!! You've already lost SO much and you're almost there! :O) It is soooo hard to grow up fat. And the only thing worse than being a fat kid is being a fat teenager! How did we survive? I was lucky and found my husband in high school and was married at 19...he didn't want those super skinny, rich, blond, cheerleaders...hehehe
I plan on going to the support groups once a month sponsored by my surgeon and also going to therapy twice a month also. I really want this to work. I'm also going to be joining a gym and make sure to go at least 3 or 4 times a week. This is the last step for me. I've worked at this since I was 11 (I'll be 41 next month) so I'm tired of this! THIS TIME IT'S GOING TO WORK!!!!!!!!

I sure don't know how we survived being a fat teenager, but it all came around to being wonderful. The jaws dropped at my 40 year class reunion. It felt good to have so many people saying such nice things to you. I know that in High School I never allowed anyone to see me sad, I always smiled and laughed. Nicest compliment came last summer when I ran into my old flame and he had seen me at my highest, then he seen me now, and as he hugged me, he said, I can get my arm all the way around you! Made me feel good.
We are all here to support you, and if you get a chance to meet some of us in person take it, you will find a great group of people here of all ages. Some will be life long friends.
